Swimming
The USC Swimming Section meets at the Leys School on a Tuesday evening. Our booking is from 19:15 – 20:15.
Each week one lane is opened for the more enthusiastic swimmer. We also set aside a second lane for families, with children who use floats, etc. The middle area is set aside for general swimming, but at a more reasonable pace. If you fancy stopping for a chat, then you can.
The door to the pool is located behind the second gate down Fen Causeway on the left, as you head in the direction of Newnham. You can park within the Leys railings if you come by car, bike, etc.
The first time you come along, you can have a FREE TRIAL SWIM. Allowing you time to decide if you like the facilities, pool (which is 25 metres long), etc.
Note: Unfortunately, we cannot offer swimming lessons, as none of our members are suitably qualified.
Thereafter, if you decide to join (note - there are currently around 25 members, so it isn’t too busy from week to week), you will be required to pay your subscription. Our ‘season’ runs from April 1 to March 31 each year.
Subscriptions
Adult (Annual)* = 70.00 GBP
Guests
Adult = 4.00 GBP per swim
Child = 2.00 GBP per swim
* Own children, up to age of 16, swim free of charge.
If you join our swimming club, you would be covered under the Leys School’s public liability insurance.
For more information, our contacts are:
Mike Buttress on 01223 332237 or e-mail mjb49@cam.ac.uk
Keith Matthews on 01223 337401 or e-mail kjm23@phy.cam.ac.uk
Pam Gill on 01954 211108.
It might be an idea to ring us to ensure the pool will be open – as it does close occasionally for maintenance, AGM, etc.
Please feel free to come along on a Tuesday evening and have that FREE TRIAL SWIM. You never know, you might even enjoy it!
